The Oaks School of Leadership Student Leader Spotlight

Meet David Belt
Birthday: June 8th 1990
Year in OSL: 2nd
Where I’m From: Richmond, VA; Middle East; Coon Rapids, MN
Internship: Worship
My life motto/verse: 1 Timothy 6:11, “But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness.”
Dream vacation: An Island with a lot white sand. Bright and shiny. Uhhh! I’m going to find one some day… just me and my wifey. And white sand.
Things that fascinate me: Music. Especially Christmas music. In World War II, on Christmas week, the Germans and British (I think?) stopped fighting, called a truce, and from their trenches sang Christmas songs in their own language. Powerful.
People who inspire me: My dad, my brother, James Wilson, Chris Railey, Joseph Jones. Fred Smith Sr.
When and where you committed your life to Christ: In Lebanon, at a church service, 7 years old… finally understood that there was a God who sent his son to cover all my sin with his blood.
Favorite singer/band: Steven Curtis Chapman! Brilliant song writer and lyricist and great man of God.
Pet peeves: If someone slaps me in the face, even joking, I turn into… oh man… it’s just bad.
Hidden talent: I was born without a stomach, so they implanted a cow’s into my body… It can stretch farther than others… so I eat a lot.
Fears: To become a man who my future family would not be able to trust or come to for anything. It just ain’t gonna happen though AMEN!
Most adventurous thing I’ve done: Being a missionary kid
I’m glad to be apart of The Oaks because: I’m bought in into what God is doing here in Texas… I love being a part of the vision God has placed in Chris and Scott. I love this church because of its humbly driven staff. I’m thankful for where I am.
