About Church Diagnostic

In church diagnostic, Pastor Scott takes the ‘corporate blood-pressure’ of the organization. This tool provides a very detailed leadership capacity assessment to measure the infrastructure as it relates to the Senior Pastor’s vision.

Assessing the ‘blood-pressure’ of the church is a six-hour process and the break down is as follows:

Senior Pastor and Pastor Scott - 3 hours
Second Leadership Tier - 1.5 hours
Third Leadership Tier - 1.5 hours

In order for the diagnostic to be as effective as possible, we've established the following guidelines:

1. All three meetings are done back-to-back on the same day.
2. The Senior Pastor should not plan on attending the other two meetings.
3. The Senior Pastor selects the second and third tier of leadership (20-30 people in all) using any criteria applicable. These could be a mix of staff and non-paid leadership.
4. Pastor Scott does this on a day when all THREE tiers are available.

Approximately 30 days following these meetings, Pastor Scott will present a full report to the Senior Pastor. This diagnostic report will include:

* Overview
* Strengths
* Weaknesses
* Opportunities
* Threats
* Strategies
* Success Factors
* Recommendations
* Next Steps

This will be presented personally to the Senior Pastor and requires a 2-3 hour meeting. At this time, all issues raised in the report can be clarified and defined. The Senior Pastor has complete ownership of the report and may request an edit of the report as deemed necessary.

Scott and the Senior Pastor then meet with ALL the tiers of leaders together (20-30 people) to go over the report. In this meeting, which is usually 3 hours, Pastor Scott facilitates the following tasks:

•    Elaborates on the report (each person receives a copy)
•    Identifies major themes/issues/patterns
•    Narrows the list to 2-3 major/front-burner issues
•    Team and team-captain selection for each issue/category
•    Teams receive assignments including who, what and when

Upon successful completion of selected issues, other issues are then dealt with similarly.

The purpose of this process is to:

•    Free the Pastor to envision
•    Place ownership with the key leaders
•    Place accountability with the leaders
•    Provide executive coaching for church leaders
•    Assure successful completion of project
•    Build momentum for bigger and future vision
